Coconut Grove show-we sold our art to folks from all over the planet!
Our 1st show of the year, 200,000 attendees, and beautiful warm weather- no wonder it's one of our favorites. Winning third-place was great since it assures us a place next year. With over 2500 artists competing for only 300 places- that's important!!

We had on display that piece I did of" JJ", the gorilla at the Miami zoo. Seeing the piece I did of J.J. , the owner of Monkey Jungle asked me to do a similar piece on King. I was honored and excited by the opportunity.

Our old friend, Ron, couldn't wait to show us the newest addition to the zoo. A life-size, bronze Harpy Eagle celebrating Ron's efforts in Panama to save this endangered predator.

We were proud to have played a very small part in creating this wonderful exhibit. Hearing about plans for the exhibit, I introduced Ron to an old friend of mine, Vicki Banks- one of the most talented bronze artists in the nation.

After a year, and hundreds of hours of hard work, Vicki created this life-size Harpy Eagle for the exhibit. Now, sight impaired visitors can feel the plumage and powerful talons of this endangered predator.

Later we visited the Florida Everglades
Later we visited the Florida Everglades
It was like a beautiful spring day. Sunny, windy and about 70°. We found a trail that had been closed to the public and hiked into one of the most beautiful tropical forests in America.

The bromeliads and palms looked almost prehistoric.

After walking for several hours, deep into the Everglades, dry conditions permitted us to hike on trails far from civilization and people. The wind helped mask the sound of our movement.

After awhile Jim decided to leave me to enjoy the dry swamp and he walked up the trail alone.

After walking awhile further, Jim decided to return along the same path. As he rounded a bend, he came face to face with a panther that had been tracking him. Both of them immediately froze- watching each other. He couldn't believe his eyes!

He managed to get 2 shots before the the panther lept back into the dense tropical jungle. He said he was worried about me and was on the lookout for a pool of blood and drag marks on the trail. Rangers told us they had gone decades without seeing one.
