If you know any Botswana native people, this phase will make them smile. " Mother's Love" is the literal translation in Setswana. Offered as an honorific, the implication is that the person addressed is worthy of his/her mother's love - a lovely acknowledgement of the maternal connection.
The mother with cub in he mouth was seen by the edge of a river in Botswana. Nervous, pacing the edge, she seemed worried about the water and indeed, even the most placid of rivers can hide a hungry croc. We watched , I drew, as nervous as she was. Eventually after several small starts, she crossed the river with her cub. When she found the other shore we all cheered, relieved for her, and for ourselves.
We had been following her during the day, and had seen her take down a wildebeest with her great strength. The tenderness with which she grasped her cub was touching.
