THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD

Limited Edition Giclee Print

The pride had taken a giraffe, and they guarded their feast for days. I had several occasions to check in with them and draw the scene up close- say, a dozen feet or so from the vehicle. Vultures soaring overhead had led us to them, several taking up positions in the trees' branches close by. The lions ate, drank, and slept unconcerned about my scrutiny.

It's really quite something to observe the sisterhood close at hand. No other cat works in teams. No other cat shares child rearing. The females will have each others' backs for all of their lives.  So inspiring.

Giclee Dimensions: 30" x 60" on canvas, ready to hang, $1400

This young male stopped and stared as he listened to the charcoal scratch across my sketchpad

At one point I saw his whiskers move forward, and his pupils narrowed to pinpoints. For a moment, I didn't know if I would live to tell about it!

At one point I saw his whiskers move forward, and his pupils narrowed to pinpoints. For a moment, I didn't know if I would live to tell about it!

While I drew they would roll and expose their full bellies, full of meat and dreaming lion dreams as they twitched.
