One couldn't engineer anything as amazing as a tiger, and a tiger in its natural element holds a place in our collective imagination. The heavy pacing belies a lighning speed when called upon. It is this contradiction that pulls me , again and again, to the easel.
Years ago, I walked a full grown tiger while working at Shambala for Tippi Hedren. Little did I know at the age of 20 how that experience would factor into the moment of making this sketch. This is one of several walking poses I worked on, drawn in charcoal, and graphite, painted with coffee.
